For those interested, please reach out to our Tribal Librarian if you’d like to sign up for one or both months!

Summer Reading Prizes

For the duration of the summer, the library is offering prizes for reading books!

There are a few options here:

You or your child(ren) can pick up a prize tracker in the library and earn a new prize at every milestone.

You can track your books with a reading list from the Mashkiiziibii Agindaasoowigamig – Bad River Library or with your own system. Every book you read gets you a ticket for a chance at a special gift basket with sage and sweetgrass and other Native art and gifts, curated in collaboration with the team at Birchbark Books.

Some combination, maybe you don’t want a slap bracelet or a keychain but you do want that Culver’s treat or a Lego set: you can pass on any specific prizes and get a ticket for the gift basket instead.

A note to parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles, older siblings, friends: if you read a book to a child this summer, that counts! Take the point! You read that too.

And remember: audiobooks, ebooks, and graphic novels are still books. They count. You could probably even count a 50,000-word Wattpad story if it really held your interest.

The library is open 11am-5pm during the week, and 10am-1pm on some Saturdays.

We have brochures, and reading ideas as well so stop on by!
