The BRHA is designated as a Tribal Designated Housing Entity (TDHE). It currently manages 171 low income housing units which are each located on the Bad River Reservation. Our purpose is to provide safe sanitary housing for those persons meeting the individual income and family composition requirements. The BRHA currently has two major construction projects going. The $2 million ARRA “Green Project” which is rehabbing 18 homes in the Birch Hill Community. Phase I of this project was completed during the first week of November 2010. Phase II is scheduled to be completed in April of 2011, while Phase III will complete the project in December of 2011.
The second project is a $5 million dollar Tax Credit program that is rehabbing 24 homes in the Birch Hill and New Odanah area, and renovating the Birch Hill Community Center to include installing all new playground equipment. Phase I of this project was delayed due to the National banking crisis in the summer of 2010. However, Phase I is scheduled to be completed by February of 2011. Phase II will be completed around May of 2011, and Phase III will be completed around December of 2011. When both projects are completed, 25% of all housing stock will be rehabilitated with insulation, energy star appliances and energy rated windows.
