Job Title:                   Natural Resources Aide

Department:              Natural Resource Department

Hourly Rate:             $9.00/hr                    Limited Term

Exempt:                     No/Hourly

Supervisor:                Invasive Species Coordinator

 

Summary: The Natural Resources Aide will assist in a variety of natural resources projects.  This position is a limited-term position and will range between 32-40 hrs/wk for 10 weeks with possibility for extension through the summer months.  This position is non-exempt (or hourly). 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following:

  • Assisting with the monitoring efforts for invasive species;
  • Assisting with invasive species control projects;
  • Assisting with various natural resources monitoring projects;
  • Collecting and recording field observations and applicable measures;
  • Entering field data collected into internal database;
  • Cleaning and inspecting watercrafts and trailers at landings;
  • Educating people about invasive species and how to prevent the spread;
  • Attend necessary trainings and workshops;
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor and/or Natural Resources Director.

Education and/or Experience:

Preferred:

Experience monitoring and/or controlling invasive species is preferred.  Experience working on natural resources monitoring projects preferred. GPS/GIS skills are preferred. ATV experience and outboard motor experience preferred. Hand tools experience like chainsaw, power washers, etc.   Experience working with tribal communities and/or Native American issues is preferred.

Must be self-motivated, trustworthy, dependable, and willing to occasionally work long hours. Background Check:

This position is contingent on ability to pass a background check required. This position requires a regular background check to be run.

Must have sufficient oral and written skills. Must have excellent listening ability.

Must be physically able to perform all job duties including field work, walking, standing, bending, and stooping, as well as lifting up to 25lbs and/or carrying for short distances required. Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be comfortable working in a marine environment utilizing various outboard boats. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
