Job Title:                              Report Specialist

To prepare internal and external financial reports for the distribution to Federal, State and Private funding agencies while ensuring compliance with various reporting requirements and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Create and coordinate the preparation and release of financial reports to Federal, State and Private funding agencies.
  • Possess the skills to creatively solve problems and propose solutions with minimal direction.
  • Review financial data and assimilate financial reports, address problem areas and make necessary adjustments recommendations.
  • Retrieve and utilize information from the accounting system and other data sources.
  • Assist in the yearly budget preparation process.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with others and possess strong interpersonal/customers service skills.
  • Meet monthly with the Program/Department staff to address financial issues.
  • Possess the ability to prioritize work and multitask in a fast-paced setting. Willing to take on new projects and be flexible.
  • Compute and compile spreadsheet reports for tracking of financial data, and as assigned.
  • Ability to collect, consolidate and report financial data utilizing various reporting software programs, spreadsheets and grafts.
  • Possess the ability to consolidate data from various sources, summarize data and translate into a user-friendly format.
  • Possess complete understanding of financial statements, including Balance Sheets and Statement of Revenues and Expenditures.
  • Scan and maintain reports, supporting documents and worksheets into the electronic record storage system.
  • Identify automation and process improvement ideas, as well as assist with implementation.
  • Write and maintain processes related to the processing of financial reporting.
  • Experience with various reporting tools, software and other essential applications.
  • Compliance with Tribal, Federal, State and various Private policies and regulations.
  • Assist with periodic updates of the organization’s Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Support with overflow of work of other Accounting Personnel, or in other Accounting Personnel absence, when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to be bondable under the organization’s insurance carrier.
  • Have basic knowledge of office equipment, including facsimile machine, scanning unit and other essential necessary to perform daily administrative functions.
  • Be able to perform assigned duties with limited oversight.
  • Have basic computer skills, including: knowledge of word and spreadsheet applications, and other essential office applications.
  • Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and meet eligibility for tribal insurance.
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet organizational and external funding sources deadlines

Qualification Requirements: Candidate must have experience in handling and processing Federal financial reports and be knowledgeable in the compliance of Federal and State contract and grant regulation or the ability to obtain the information without the need for assistance. Must also be familiar with, and able to adhere to, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Education and/or Experience:


Candidate must possess a minimum of a two-year degree in Accounting or a minimum of three years experience in the field of Governmental Accounting.


Candidate who possesses a minimum of a two-year degree in Accounting with a minimum of three years experience in the field of Accounting specifically within a Tribal organization and experience in dealing specifically in the compliance of, and reporting for, Federal and State contract and grant awards.

This position is contingent on ability to pass background check which is a requirement of the position. Candidate must meet the requirements to be bondable and required to possess and maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.

Ability to interact with the clients/employees, tribal programs and other agency personnel with objectivity and courtesy.
