Job Title:         Casino Human Resources Manager

The Bad River Casino Human Resources Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable Tribal, Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations and policies related to Bad River Casino employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for:
    • Implementation of appropriate staffing pattern to reflect operational needs
    • Job description development as deemed necessary and approved
    • Job postings and recruitment
    • Workforce development & training
    • Development and implementation of wage scale
    • Dealing with personnel issues
    • Maintaining personnel files
    • Develop and maintain a pool of eligible applicants for the recruitment process.
    • Maintain selection procedures for new hires.
    • Creation of employee orientation and training plan for all casino and lodge employees.
    • Develop and conduct training sessions for casino workforce (i.e., new hire orientation and HR101).
    • Evaluate procedures and technology solutions for human resources data management.
    • Coordinate with departments to implement a customer service plan for all employees.
    • Coordinate response to unemployment claims and participate in hearing and appeals.
    • Maintain a master copy of Casino Policy 1000 and assist with development of policy revisions as necessary or directed.
    • Ensure confidentially of all records in accordance to Tribal and Federal employment laws.
    • Conduct separation or termination of employees and carry out exit interviews.
    • Responds to team member relation issues such as complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints. Performs investigations as appropriate under guidance of General Counsel and make recommendation for corrective action and provide a written report to appropriate personnel.
    • Monitor grievance procedures and mediate workplace disputes.
    • Supervise the Casino Personnel Clerk position.
      • Must maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
      • Perform other duties as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
      • Valid Driver’s License—Must meet requirements of Tribal Driver’s Insurance license and meet the eligibility requirements for coverage under the Tribe’s Auto Insurance Plan.
      • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management (or related field) preferred, or eight (8) years Casino/Resort/Hospitality leadership experience.
      • Must have five (5) years experience in a Human Resources position.
      • Must have three (3) years of supervisory experience.
      • Must have excellent computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.)
      • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills required.
      • Must be able to interact professionally with a diverse customer population.
      • Strong organizational skills are required.
      • Ability to build positive working relationships with and among casino employees.
      • Prior experience developing and/or conducting trainings preferred.
      • Policy and procedure development experience.
      • Exercises tact and good judgment, while inspiring trust and integrity.
      • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.
      • Must be bondable.
      • Must pass background security checks.

Scope: This position requires ongoing contact with the public as well as casino employees. The individual is expected to conduct her/him self in a manner which demonstrates professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, ethics and exercises confidentiality in dealing with employees and customer service.

Establish good working relationships with others internal and external to the organization; honesty and integrity in the execution of all activities; collaborate with General Manager to ensure excellent, high quality customer service; ensure compliance with all Bad River Casino policies and procedures; demonstrate a friendly and supportive approach and attitude.

Physical Requirements:Primarily office work. Subject to inside environmental conditions, including working in a smoking environment.
